Teaching Artist Mir Naqibul Islam takes you on an immersive musical journey into South Asian rhythms and grooves.
Students learn to recite each groove, clap along with the rhythms, and progressively build from 6-beat to 16-beat patterns.
LESSONS
This is the first lesson of the South Asian Rhythm Study unit. Students will be introduced to the six-beat groove, dadra tal. They will learn how to recite the groove and clap along with the rhythm. Students will then perform together as a group.
This is the second lesson of the South Asian Rhythm Study unit. Students will be introduced to the seven-beat groove, rupak tal. They will learn how to recite the groove and clap along with the rhythm. Students will then perform together as a group.
